Video: Suspect Attempted To Break Into Cars Parked In Westchester Driveway

Police in Pelham are warning area residents to be on the lookout after a suspicious suspect was caught on camera attempting to enter cars parked in a driveway.

Investigators released video of the suspect, who was caught on camera overnight on Monday, Sept. 16. In the video, the man in shorts and a backward hat carrying a bag can be seen checking the door handles of two cars before a security light came on and chased him away.

According to police, the owner of the vehicles remembered to lock the doors of the two cars, and nothing was stolen during the incident.

“This is a very preventable crime,” police said. “Please remember to lock your car doors, close the windows and remove any valuables that may be inside.”

To help area residents avoid becoming victims, the police offer a handful of tips:

  • Always keep valuables out of sight or in the trunk;
  • Never leave valuables in unattended vehicles;
  • Always lock your vehicle, and;
  • Notify the police of any suspicious activity.
